The Sapling Project .. Is Back

After the grand success of sapling project on 26th Jan 2010 in 3 cities (Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai) where more than 1000 sapling where distributed (700 in mumbai itself) the next sapling project is lineup for you.

The Sapling Project III is happening on June 6th 2010. This time sapling team has came up with many new ideas to encourage people to plant sapling.

Some of the ideas are as follows:

1. The involvement of Celebrity in the sapling project to promote it plus to spread awareness in public with the help of the celebrities.

2. Anyone who wish to implement the project by taking initiative in their own area and organizing planting drives / awareness, speaking to people and spreading the word out, local parks / various public establishments, school kids / teenagers / schools / colleges etc. is most welcome. Sapling will be provided by us.

3. Correcting the last time mistake of giving away the saplings in plastic bags, we’ll this time give them either in paper bags or cloth bags.

4. There will be gifts for people who take good care of the saplings.

5. More engagement with users and plant plantation will be conducted via email, sms and offline meetups.

6. The new idea of giving a sapling as a takeaway gift during weddings/events, We could help people who support this idea procure saplings at discounted costs.

How You can support us

1. Word of Mouth, Speak to your family, friends,in-laws, enemies, loved ones, building junta, office friends, Train friends, Online

    @vishal : yes will let you know if i plan to take up any plantation project

    Also, You had said that instead of using plastic bags to distribute saplings, this time you will be using newspaper bags/cloth bags. Using cloth/newspaper bags is a great idea but I have an suggestion to make.
    How about you recycle plastic (softdrinks/mineral water) bottles to plant those saplings.
    In that case besides creating a greener planet you are also reducing the plastic waste from the plant.

    @Vishal : Herez what u can do.
    Take any plastic (soft drink) bottle. Cut off the top portion of the bottle that forms the funnel like section. You will be left with a container, where you can easily add mud and plant a sapling.
    Also you can make 2-3 small holes at the base of the bottle, this will allow any excess water from the plant to flow out.

    I have my son’s wedding coming up on 10th Dec and both the boy and the girl want to have a green wedding as far as possible, like sending invites on email and having a small gatering only etc. We are having a simple wedding – just exchange of garland and tieing up of thali in a temple , followed by a Luncheon get together for 200 people at Green Meadows in Pallavakkam. I want to give a sapling each to the guests as Takeaway. While on the net I came across your project and writing to you to know , how you can help me providing the saplings. Please contact me either on my mail snuma.chennai@gmail.com or my mobile +91-9840061508. Looking forward to your response, S N Uma
